FCC/CE Certification Queries

Dear Dialog Team,

We made a prototype simple BLE tag based on DA14585. The antenna part is a direct implementation of your DA14580-RD-WLCSP-SMTag2-VC. I attached the schematic pdf of your design file for your reference. We are trying to do FCC/CE certification and are in contact with a certification vendor. Following are the queries he has raised:

1) Can you provide technical details on the antenna used such as gain of the antenna, etc? Also, can you please explain why there is antenna trace on the bottom layer also since generally, PCB antenna trace is only on one layer. Is it for better grounding??

2) Is the reference design certified, since we are using the same antenna part?

3) Can you provide with certification/Test firmware, software & documents necessary for the certification process?

Hi blebot,

The smart tag isn't certified, so you cannot leverage this. A quite similar antenna is described in AN-B-027: Designing Printed Antennas for Bluetooth Smart document. Please check for the Single layer printed IFA, which has similar gain with the antenna on the smart tag. You could also find the dxf files in this link : AN-B-027: Designing Printed Antennas: DXF files.

The test firmware is the SDK's prod_test. Description can be found in AN-B-007 DA1458x Bluetooth Direct Test Mode. The prod_test can be found in \\projects\target_apps\prod_test SDK path.
