Codeless DA14531 Reference Schematic

Dear All,

Are there any reference schematic with DA14531 for codeless through UART.

Is Flash IC required for Codeless using 14531?

Regards

Hi kashyap.gada,

Hi kashyap.gada,

Thanks for your question and for your interest in DA14531 -  CodeLess solution.

From what you mentioned, I assume that you are planning to develop a custom board with the DA14531 rather than using our Development Kits.

There is not any specific reference schematic for the CodeLess and it depends on the application.

My recommendation would be to check out the Hardware design example guide document.

https://www.dialog-semiconductor.com/sites/default/files/an-b-075_da14531_hardware_guidelines_1v3_0.pdf

In the UM-B-140: DA14531-DA14585 CodeLess user guide, you can also find how to use the CodeLess too.

Thanks, PM_Dialog

Dear Sir,

Dear Sir,

Thanks for your response.

DA14531 has

1. 144kB ROM (What is it used for? Is it available to user?)

I have read before on forum that USB Devkit cannot be used for codeless but could you please guide if we wanted to use it what components changes would be required on the board. Do we need to remove flash?

Hi kashyap.gada,

Hi kashyap.gada,

According to UM-B-119: DA14585-DA14531 SW Platform Reference, the 144-KB ROM contains the BLE protocol stack, the boot code sequence and some common SDK code which has been transferred to ROM space. Please see more details on Section 4.2.11. SDK modules in ROM space (only for DA14531). It’s not available for the user – you can burn download firmware in the System-RAM, OTP or an external SPI Flash.

Keep in mind that OTP stands for One Time Programmable, thus you can’t erase and re-write the OTP multiple times, but you can only flip the bits that are still set to 0 and turn them to 1.

You can also use our newest DA14531 SmartBond TINY™ Module which contains an SPI Flash as well.’

The module provides significant savings in development cost and time-to-market. It comes with an integrated antenna and easy to use software making Bluetooth low energy development easier than ever before.
