Codeless Code in DA141531 USB Dev Kit

Dear Dialog Team,

Is it possible to run the codeless on the DA14531 USB Development Kit ? If not, what would be the way to adapt it ? So it seems if other threads are right but difficult due to the fact that JTAG and 2/4 wires UART is not possible together.

What about if I place it in OTP in place and adjust the dip swithc settings accordingly ? But when I try using the .hex file, it says in the SmartSn. Toolbox that the code size is too big than the size allowed. Some way to reduce it, go around it ? I don't need all functions for this try (SUOTA for example can be removed but how ?).

Thank you in advance,

Pascal

Hi Pascal,

Hi Pascal,

Please read section 2.2. Hardware Setup from the UM-B-140: DA14531-DA14585 CodeLess.

According to the user guide:

"The DA14531 USB kit cannot be configured to boot from SPI flash and also operate a 2/4 wire UART - for this reason it is not well suited to being used as a platform for CodeLess."

http://lpccs-docs.dialog-semiconductor.com/UM-140-DA145x-CodeLess/howToUse.html

The supported boards:

  - DA1458x Pro Motherboard with DA14585 daughterboard

  - DA1458x Pro Motherboard with DA14531/DA14531 Module daughterboard

  - DA14585 Basic board

  - Any other custom board using DA14531/DA14585 with a 2 wire UART will also work

Supported modules

  - BLE5.0: DA14531 Smartbond TINY™ Module

Do you have any other DA14531 DK?

Thanks, PM_Dialog

Dear PM_Dialog,

Dear PM_Dialog,

Thank you. Yes, I knew about it by reading the doc, also including other answers in the forum, very close to yours. But 'not well suited' for me doesn't mean it is not possible. Can you look further at my specific questions to how to make it possible.

Thank you in advance,

Pascal

Hi Utkarsh,

Hi Utkarsh,

It seems correct – do you want to stop advertising and put the device into permanent sleep mode?

What is the power consumption you are measuring with this implementation?

Please also check the sleep mode tutorial for DA14580 – link is provided below:

https://www.dialog-semiconductor.com/sites/default/files/training_04_sleep_mode_configurations.pdf

Thanks, PM_Dialog

Hi Pascal,

Hi Pascal,

My apologies for the delay -  I got feedback from the Team internally and CodeLess is not supported on the DA14531 USB DK – it is a HW limitation as mentioned din the user guide. If you would like to run the CodeLess you should but the Pro-DK or the DA14531 module.

Thanks, PM_Dialog

Dear All,

Dear All,

I took the right side of the DIP Switch where TX, RX, RTS and CTS come from the Atmel Debugger and connected them to P0_5, P0_6, P0_7 and P08. Kept switches 6, 7, 8 and 9 in OFF State & Flash switches in ON State and the Codeless Binary works as it is when burnt to Flash through Smart Snippets Studio.

I don't know why Dialog selected overlapping pins anyways this is a simple way and doable by anyone with little soldering skills. Attached picture of working setup.

Thanks
