DA14531 TINY Module as a simple Tx-Rx pair

Hi,

I want to use the DA14531 Tiny Module as a bidirectional UART <-->BT device.

That is, Module A receives data from a PIC microcontroller (via either SPI or UART ) and broadcasts this data as a Bluetooth packet.

The Module B receives the Bluetooth data and sends it out to its PIC micro (SPI or UART)

Do you have any examples for this ?

Can this be done as a Codeless implementation ?

What is the best way to go about getting this project off the ground ?

I will be using Windows 10 for the development.

More questions once I know where to start !

Thanks

I found what I was looking

I found what I was looking for !

http://lpccs-docs.dialog-semiconductor.com/UM-140-DA145x-CodeLess/introd...

The " UART to UART wireless connection: CodeLess can be controlled from a PC or a 3rd party microcontroller " example is what I need to implement.

Will go through this article and see how I can go ahead and develop it !

Hi Shashialabur,

Hi Shashialabur,

Thanks for your question online and for your interest in our TINY module solution.

There are two examples that receive data on UART and transmit them over BLE.

CodeLess

The CodeLess allows you to quickly get started with wireless IoT applications with a set of AT Commands.  The CodeLess AT commands platform allows control over a local UART connected device as well as a remote device via BLE. You can create simple demos / applications / proof of concepts without any code development or build you own application on top!  Click here for more info!

The CodeLess AT commands platform allows control over a local UART connected device as well as a remote device via BLE.

The comprehensive set of AT-Commands enables control of the BLE connectivity, sensor read-out and battery check of the device.

Control over issuing the AT commands can be on a PC or integrated in a 3rd party microcontroller.

Quick & Simple – out of the box. Download as binary directly into your module or device.

Take source code example and add your own commands. Compile. Download & Go.

Please also check the Binary Mode. This mode is used for the purpose of data pumps wherein the Bluetooth CodeLess device transfers data without examining it contents, which is the preferred method for end to end raw data transfer.

Dialog Serial Port Service (DSPS)

The DSPS emulates a serial cable communication. It provides a simple substitute for RS-232 connections, including the familiar software flow control logic via Bluetooth low energy. The SPS software distribution includes the application and profile source codes and supports GAP Central/Peripheral roles.

Hi,

Hi,

Can I use a FT230 or CP2101 based USB-to-UART module to download the code into the Module ?

I do not want to purchase the Pro-DK board. I will purchase the DA14531 Smart Bond TINY Module, make my own USB to UART board, use the P0_6,5,7,8 pins as TX,RX,RTS,CTS pins and download the code into the Falsh.

Will this work ?

Hi Shashialabur,

Hi Shashialabur,

Please take a look at UM-B-114: DA14531 Development Kit Pro Hardware User Manual and section 4.2.2 USB to UART (U12). The USB to UART function is implemented by U12, FT2232HL. So, you can implement the same in your custom board.

Thanks, PM_Dialog

Hi,

Hi,

I am unable to purchase a few samples for testing and very long lead times are indicated on Digikey & Avnet.

Hence, I will have to look at other similar Modules for now !

Or, please let me know how and from where I can purchase a few samples ?

Thanks
