Regarding BLE 4.2 Qualification of DA14580

Hello Dialog,

I have questions regarding the DA14580 SoC we are using right now (Murata ZY series).
In the DA14580 product page, it says that the SoC supports Bluetooth 4.2 Specification.

Does that mean all the hardware shipped (or to be shipped) contains BLE stack that supports all BLE 4.2 Specification?
(longer data length compared to 4.1, etc.)

I am using 5.0.3 SDK, if I use older (or newer) SDK, does that make any difference?

I read in the FAQ that the stack is based on Bluetooth Specification 4.0, is that a typo? or is it my misunderstanding regarding BLE Spec?

Thanks

Hi meriororen,

Hi meriororen,

No, the 580 is 4.2 qualified that means that supports only the mandatory features of 4.2. Please check the below post for more info:

The SDK doesn't make any difference.

Thanks MT_dialog

I had the the same question

I had the the same question "the stack is based on Bluetooth Specification 4.0, is that a typo?". I'm still confused. We adopted Murata module and developed 2 custom profiles based on the "prox_reporter_ext" project from SDK 5.0.3 for our product. Now planning to go through SIG Qualification process, is our product qualified for 4.0 (single mode BLE stack 4.0) or 4.1 (Murata module)?

Hi jlee128,

Hi jlee128,

As mentioned above and the same thing stands for the Murata module since it embeds an 580, the stack in the 580 is a 4.0 but is 4.2 qualified, that means that it supports all the mandatory features of the 4.2 but not the optional features.

Thanks MT_dialog
